Brown BLog Predicts: Week 6 vs Ravens

With Lamar Jackson out Sunday there's no secret what the Ravens formula will be to win the game:

- Control the clock, moving the ball on the ground and with ball control oriented passing. 

- Avoid mistakes

- Dominate the line of scrimmage on offense and defense.

For the Browns they likewise need a mistake free game coupled with some big plays from Deshaun Watson and his cadre of emerging young star receivers. 

Even with Lamar Jackson out, I'm torn on who to pick.  

Do I really believe the Browns can play mistake free football for 4 quarters?  Not really...

Do I believe the Ravens veteran defense won't be capable of containing a young group of opponents, hard to imagine.

Will Tyler Huntley, who knows the Browns from the inside because the Browns signed him two years in a row in hopes of trading him at cut down time for a 7th round draft pick, struggle to move the ball?  Nope

As much as I want to predict the Browns to win, I don't believe they are going to.   I see another week of frustration as the Ravens send the Brownies back to .500.

Special Teams

 For two years in a row, special teams play a critical role in the Browns losing to the Jets

The Browns played a gutsy game and it’s hard to judge because of the terrible weather, but a Bill Belichick team would’ve been ready for that wet weather  punt.

I generally am wrong whenever I make a prediction of who is going to win when our Browns play the Jets.  

Why?

Because the Jets suck too and I always find it difficult to believe the Browns will lose to a team whose incompetence rivals their own.   However today might be different.   This Browns team has talent and their football operation is solid and improving.   It is hard for me to imagine for example that our Special Teams will allow two TD's today like Bubba Ventrone's group did last season.

Not only do I envision a Browns victory today but I don't really think they'll have much trouble with the Jets.   Mason Graham and Mike Hall will be out, that's going to make it more challenging however the Jets are banged up in key spots too.

Cleveland Browns Alternative Reality: 0-4

If anybody but Deshaun Watson were leading the team at QB right now, I have zero doubt this 3-1 team would be 0-4

Browns is NOT the Browns when Deshaun is at the controls.  

Brown BLog Predicts: Week 4 vs Steelers

 

I always was a big fan of Mike Tomlin and I firmly believe the Steelers are not going to win at least 9 games this season.   Their descent towards mediocrity starts in earnest tonight against the Browns.

Won't it be sweet to be 3-1!
